Field trial of a novel non-intrusive method for in-service PMD measurements in fiber-optic networks

We have tested a non-intrusive PMD measurement method which monitors and analyzes the in-band high-resolution frequency-dependence in the polarization states of traffic signals. The method is applicable to single-polarization optical signals with arbitrary modulation format.
