Singlet molecular oxygen generation from the decomposition of sodium peroxotungstate and sodium peroxomolybdate

Singlet oxygen is formed by thermal decomposition of peroxomolybdates and peroxotungstates in basic aqueous solution. As shown by both infrared chemiluminescence and chemical trapping, the yield of 1 O 2 released by this system is a total of about 160% (80% based on O 2 released). The infrared chemiluminescence technique is particularly useful for studying reaction kinetics in this system
