O QUE MOTIVA OS ACADÊMICOS MADUROS? = WHAT MOTIVATES THE MATURE STUDENTS?

Analisando a teoria motivacional dos dois fatores de Frederick Herzberg e a pirâmide das necessidades de Abraham Maslow, entende-se que todos os individiduos possuem aspectos motivadores e fundamentais em sua vida. Em pesquisa realizada com estudantes do curso de graduacao em Administracao Publica da UDESC, objetivou-se averiguar por meio de um questionario de carater didatico-pedagogico, aplicado no primeiro semestre de 2010, diferentes componentes motivacionais e de carater politico. Para este estudo especificamente, analisou-se uma das questoes do questionario, que avaliava a prevalencia de academicos que tinham como motivacao ao curso a garantia da sua sobrevivencia (alimentacao e moradia). A tabulacao dos dados e a estatistica descritiva foi realizada a partir do software Microsoft Excel 2003 e a analise estatistica atraves do programa SPSS 17. Como resultado, obteve-se uma correlacao forte entre as variaveis analisadas, com r de Pearson igual a 0,92 (p<0,001) quando analisados todos os academicos, indicando que a medida que amadurecem, maior a tendencia em se preocupar com a sua sobrevivencia (alimentacao e moradia), havendo uma maior evidencia na faixa etaria dos 31 a 45 anos de idade, onde 21,4% dos academicos indicaram essa prioridade. ABSTRACT Analyzing the “The dual structure theory” of Frederick Herzberg and the “Maslow's hierarchy of needs” of Abraham Maslow, it is understood that each individual has motivator and fundamental aspects in its life. In a research conducted with student from an undergraduate degree in Public Administration of UDESC, the aim was to find out, through a didactic-pedagogic questionnaire, applied in the first half of 2010, different motivational and political components. For this study specifically, we analyzed one of the questions, which evaluated the prevalence of academics that had as motivation to their course to ensure their survival (feed and dwelling). The tabulation of the data and descriptive statistics were performed using the software Microsoft Excel 2003 and the statistical analysis using SPSS 17. As a result, we obtained a strong correlation between the variables, with Pearson's r equal to 0.92 (p <0.001) when analyzed all the academics, indicating that, more mature they are, the greater the tendency to worry about their survival (feed and dwelling), with greater evidence in the age group of 31 to 45 years of age, where 21.4% of students indicated this priority.
