Using coal-dust fuel in blast furnaces with unstable batch quality

The first stage in the introduction of coal-dust technology has been completed at the blast furnaces at OAO Alchevskii Metallurgicheskii Kombinat, in response to the progressive deterioration in sinter quality and improvement in hot strength of the coke (to acceptable levels of CSR 47–51%). In this stage, the mean monthly dust injection is 124–135 kg/t of hot iron, with complete elimination of natural gas.
