Multi-step evolution of lung cancer

Abstract In an attempt to improve the poor survival rates for lung cancer, therapeutic strategies require a deeper understanding of the biological events contributing to the formation and progression of the disease. In particular, the importance of studying the different stages of lung cancer including early pre-neoplasia is being recognised and studies examining genetic changes in pre-invasive and invasive lesions are being used to identify key events in tumorigenesis.
