A Wide Band Meta- Surface Enhancement of Mutual Coupling in SatCom / 5G Antenna Applications

2019
In this paper a wideband mutual coupling reduction between two aperture coupled microstrip (ACMS) antennas, is introduced. The antennas are functioning from 17 - 31 GHz which is in the region of the Ka-band for the satellite communication (SatCom) applications. The mutual coupling has been reduced by using a periodic meta-surface structure (J-cross) unit to achieve wideband isolation in the Ka (uplink) band of 17-31 GHz. Reduction of the mutual coupling has been proven efficient on employing it in array or MIMO antenna applications.
