Hollow Antiresonant Optical Fiber Modified with Thin Films Containing Highly-Luminescent Gd2O3:Nd3+ Nanophosphors

2021
Gadolinium sesquioxide (Gd 2 O 3 ) is a well-known inorganic compound which is widely used as a host matrix for nanoscale phosphors fabrication because of its high chemical durability, thermal stability and low phonon energy [1] . In this paper, we applied cubic Gd 2 O 3 crystals for the modification of a silica hollow-core antiresonant optical fiber with thin films based on highly-luminescent Gd 2 O 3 :Nd 3+ nanophosphors synthesized by the polymer-salt method which allows the formation of active silica layers without using CVD processes [2] .
