New application of sonic detection: in examining the effectiveness of reinforcement of Dazu carved stone, China

Laboratory and field tests were performed using the sonic detection technique to assess the success of consolidation treatments on the moya carved stones in Dazu (Sichuan Province, China). Results showed the effectiveness of consolidation measures (injection of epoxy chemical grouts) on fissured stone, and the suitability of the sonic technique for non-destructive testing of the exterior and interior behaviour of carved stones.
