ELECTROGASTROGRAM(EGG)——ANALYSIS OF 100 CHINESE NORMAL ADULTS

1980
1.Electrogastrograms(EGG)of 100 Chinese normal adults were recordedwith monopolar cutaneous surface(extracellular)electrodes.Gastric basic elec-trical rhythm or spontaneous electric activity has been observed. The mainelectric activity is regular at about 3 cycles/minute(average 3.05±0.23 cycles/minute),and amplitude at approximately 150 μv(average 153±47μv).2.After a meal, the basic electrical rhythm showed an increase in the ampli-tude,then showed a short decrease phase and finally returned to the normal levelafter about an hour.3.The effects of acupuncture of Zu-San-Li on the EGG were eitherinhibitory or excitatory, depending upon the preacupunctural states.4.Following the injection of Neostigmini methylsulfurici 0.25 mg or Atropinisulfatis 0.5 mg,obvious increase or decrease in the amplitude and frequency of theEGG waves was observed.5.The possibility of clinical application of EGG was discussed.
