Magnetic study of GdxBi1-xFeO3 multiferroics synthesized by solution combustion technique

In the present work, we have synthesized a series of Gd3+ substituted BiFeO3 multiferroics, GdxBi1-xFeO3 (x = 0.0, 0.01, 0.02) by solution combustion technique and then explored the samples for magnetic and Mossbauer spectroscopy measurements. The particle size and lattice parameter have been observed to increase (22.2-27.3 nm) and (3.89-3.98 A) with the increase in Gd3+ doping respectively. Magnetic study has revealed an increase in the saturation magnetization (2.69-5.19 emu/g) with the incorporation of Gd3+ ions while coercivity has been found to be decreasing (231.27-104.54 Oe) with the addition of Gd3+ ions in BiFeO3 matrix. Mossbauer spectroscopy has suggested an increase in the ferromagnetic ordering with the increasing substitution of Gd3+ ions.
