The treatment of pathological fractures with special reference to the use of major prosthetic replacement of bone.

: Over 26 years 44 major prosthetic replacements have been carried out for tumours and tumorous like conditions of the long bones (including 15 with pathological fractures). There have been 10 deaths (none post-operative). 5 secondary amputations have been carried out for recurrence, breakage or infection.
