Management of the Upper Limb Soft-Tissue Injuries

2017
Hand injuries have been one of the most devastating and disabling accidents that might happen to the civilian or military personnel. Almost all kinds of professions require a certain degree of hand dexterity, and such loss will rebound heavily on the family, society, and economical burden of the state, not only instantly, but also for many years to follow. The disaster is massive in the war-zone areas like the Middle East, and it is still growing, making it vital for medical professionals and hand surgeons to get steps ahead in tackling various hand traumas and performing productive rehabilitation. This chapter discusses the management of the blast injuries to the hand and its reconstructive options. The main goal is to preserve the hand when possible and restore its shape and function.
