FLAMMABLE MIXTURES PENETRATION IN THE ATMOSPHERE FROM SPILLAGE OF LNG
1972
Gaz de France investigated the hazards from spillage of LNG on the ground without immediate ignition. Experiments at the test station of Nantes (1) measured the evaporation rates of LNG on various soils in order to ascertain the gas released in the first minutes of the spill, and (2) observed and measured the extent of the clouds generated from spillages in diked areas up to 200 sq m. The tendency of the cloud to rise in the atmosphere was observed and checked by theoretical calculations.
