Scope of Firearm Injuries in the United States

2021
Since 1968, there have been more civilian firearms deaths than the total number of combat deaths incurred by United States military members in all wars since the United States has been a country. There are more than 30,000 firearm-related deaths annually, including 1200 child deaths. Beyond mortality, 110,000 firearm injuries are brought to medical or legal attention through hospitals and criminal charges. This imposes a tremendous burden of mortality and life-altering morbidity on individuals, their families, and our communities.
