Oxycodone tablets crush resistant intended to prevent accidental misuse and illicit diversion of use

2007
water insoluble based oxycodone or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, which can release the oxycodone in the body for prolonged periods in time and comprising oxycodone within a matrix of compression, said matrix being matrix tablets consisting a mixture of microcrystalline cellulose and [poly (vinyl acetate) / polyvinyl pyrrolidone (80:20)], said matrix further comprising a compression agent increases viscosity that allows the formation of a gel when the tablet is dissolved in a minimum of water, characterized by that: - the oxycodone or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt represents 10 to 50% by weight of the total tablet weight, - said matrix compression represents 50 to 98% by weight of the total weight of said compressed, advantageously 85 to 95%, - said mixture of microcrystalline cellulose and [poly (vinyl acetate) / polyvinyl pyrrolidone (80:20)] represents 40 to 100%, advantageously 50 to 90% by weight of the total weight of the matrix, and - are obtained by applying compression forces between 10 kN and 160 kN.
