Optimizing Bus Warranty

The report documents how a sample number of transit agencies address key aspects of their warranty programs. Included are the steps taken to more accurately monitor warranty coverage periods, optimize the warranty process, and maximize warranty reimbursement to fulfill U.S. Federal Transit Administration requirements and taxpayer expectations. The intended audience for this synthesis is bus transit management and operations, as well as agency supporting staff. The approach to this synthesis included a literature review, a survey of transit agencies, and telephone interviews with three agencies selected as case examples.
