Hybridoma Antibodies to Leukemia-Associated Antigens of Childhood Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia (ALL)

1984
The common type of acute lymphocytic leukemia (ALL) is defined by the surface membrane expression of both HLA-DR antigens and the common ALL antigen (CALLA) [2, 7]. With the development of hybridoma antibodies, additional antigens have been identified which are associated with the common type of ALL, but which differ from CALLA in their distribution on cell lines or normal cells and which have different molecular properties [3, 4, 5, 6]. Our laboratory undertook to produce hybridoma antibodies to the common type of ALL with the objective of identifying a spectrum of ALL-associated antigens that could be used in the immunological and biological characterization of this disease. We anticipated that some of our reagents might duplicate those derived independently in other laboratories and/or might recognize new antigens associated with this disease.
