SECOND SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT ON THE CONTROL SYSTEM SHIPBOARD DATA PROCESSING AND CONTROL SYSTEM (ODPCS) ABOARD THE RESEARCH VESSEL CHAIN, OCTOBER 1963 TO DECEMBER 1966.

Abstract : In November 1963, the Shipboard Oceanographic Data Processing and Control System aboard the R/V CHAIN was improved and expanded by increasing the size of core memory, introducing control capability, increasing the number and variety of inputs, providing on-line plotting, improving the input-output capability of the computer, and adding a computerized logging system. The intent of this report is to supplement a published article (A Shipboard Oceanographic Data Processing and Control System by Bowin, Bernstein, Ungar, and Madigan, IEEE Transactions of Geoscience Electronics, in press) by providing more detailed information on the development and documentation of the system than can be given in the published paper.
