LED-Based Visible Light Communication and Positioning Technology and SoCs (Invited)

Rapid deployment of high-energy-efficiency, solid-state light emission diode (LED) lighting devices, replacing conventional luminaires devices, brings unprecedented opportunities for alternative optical wireless communication and navigation applications. This paper reviews the state-of-the-art of LED-based visible light communications (VLC) and positioning (VLP) technologies with a focus on system-on-a-chip (SoC) integrated circuit (IC) designs.
