Interfaces entre educação ambiental e patrimonial: a coexistência da comunidade de pescadores de santiago do iguapeba, o manguezal e o sambaqui

2015
The Environmental Education and Heritage Education aim to interpret the environment, with a focus socio-cultural-historical time. Cropping Environmental/Sheet conducted this research with the community of fishermen/shellfish Santiago de Iguape in Cachoeira, Bahia. The community depends on the mangrove and lives with a sambaqui (archaeological site) located in the center of the community. This study aimed to describe the coexistence of the population with the archaeological site and mangroves; identify whether the community understands what it is and how important an archaeological site; and see to what extent the population understands the importance of conserving the mangrove. This research is basic, qualitative approach to data collection performed by literature review and field, involving observation and application of semistructured interviews. By observation it was found that occupational and household waste occurs in the mangroves and on the sambaqui. The population is not considered fully responsible for the pollution and believes that the government could guide them and offer alternatives. The community recognizes the importance of mangroves and pollution notices that affect it. As for the community sambaqui not know its meaning by explaining it as the garbage of the ancient inhabitants. The diagnosis showed that the community is aware of the importance of their environment, but lack of information and alternatives for managing this. As for sambaqui should undertake actions that promote heritage education in the appreciation and conservation, as they are locally in the process of degradation.
