Prevention and control of viral hospital infections

1This concept has progressively emerged and it has been pointed out that the spread of infections in hospitals by human viruses is a major problem, in part because of the dramatic complications of bloodborne virus infections, such as human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) and hepatitis C virus (HCV) infections. However, the impact of viral nosocomial infections (VNIs) remains underestimated globally. The high frequency and deleterious effects of VNI can be attributed to many factors. Hospitals are prototypic sites in which both infected subjects (who are potential sources of infection) and susceptible subjects (who are potential recipients) are mixed and concentrated in a small space.
