Caracterização da produção científica sobre meditação na áreada Saúde e na Enfermagem: revisão de literatura

Introduction: Meditation has beem recognized in the scientific literature as a complementary therapy and as a useful thechnique for treating organic and phychiatric disorders. Objective: This study aimed to characte¬rize the publications about “meditation” considering country of origin, idiom, subarea of knowledge, study design and technique result. Material and Methods: Literature review which data were collected in January 2014 through consultation to the following databases: Embase, Lilacs, PubMed and SciELO. The search was limited to studies published between 2001 and 2014 and there was no idiom restriction. Results: Of the 170 articles evaluated, most are from United States and United Kingdom. The English language was predominant. The main subarea that published studies was medicine. The main study design used was clinical trial. Appro-ximately 70.0% of the studies had positive results. Final Considerations: There is a discrepancy between the number of publications on meditation at the international level compared to brazilian publications and are few researches from Nursing subarea about “meditation”.
