2013
The diagnosis of HBV infection is based on the presence of HBsAg or its genetic material (HBV-DNA) in serum of patients. This research aimed to analyze Hepatitis B (HBsAg) prevalence and level of liver enzymes as aspartato aminotransferase (AST), alanina aminotransferase (ALT) and gama-glutamiltransferase (GGT) in workers in a higher education institution of Campo Mourao - PR. Data were obtained from a questionnaire with the following variables: age, sex, presence of liver disease and daily alcohol consumption levels. No positive results were found for hepatitis B. Among interviewed workers, 9.4% showed high levels of AST, 3.2% of ALT and 17.2% of GGT. However, association between the AST/ALT and GGT with alcohol consumption was not observed.
