To specify a metal powder composite material having a high specific electrical resistance with good mechanical strength, excellent temperature and fuel resistance and a starting material and a process for the efficient production of such a composite material, a metal powder composite material having high electrical resistivity which is at least two contains the metal powder enveloping oxides, wherein the oxides are formed at least one common phase and provided a metal powder-containing starting material which includes at least two separating means with oxidic pyrolysis residue or at least one release agent with oxidic pyrolysis residue and oxidic fine powder, and a method for producing such a composite material , is assumed in which from a starting material of the aforementioned type, in which the starting material is pressed to form shaped bodies, wherein the release agent by heating in a non-reducing atmosphere to form oxides which then pyrolyzed and oxides present to form at least one common phase are brought together for reaction.
