Theoretical and experimental investigation of gyrotron magnetron-injector guns in the space charge limited current regime

Computed characteristics and electrode configurations are presented for magnetron-injector guns used to form helical electron beams for cyclotron masers operating in the space-charge limited current regime (i.e., the ρ regime) over various frequency ranges. A brief description is given of the synthesis and analysis methods used in the calculations. Some experimental results are presented for one of the guns described here ; these results confirm that such guns can be used in gyrotrons.
