Neutron-induced (n, α) reactions on 103Rh and indium at En = 14 MeV

1968
Abstract Energy and angular distributions from the 103 Rh(n , α) reaction have been measured, whereas the spectrum from In has been observed at 0° only. The spectrum of alpha particles from 103 Rh has been interpreted as a statistical one with a remarkable structure due to the presence of a direct process. The alpha energy spectrum from indium has been explained in terms of a direct process only. In both cases the structure of energy spectra is in a certain correspondence with the calculated single-neutron level density of the residual nuclei. The probabilities of alpha clustering on the surface of the target nuclei have been estimated assuming the n-α knock-out mechanism for the direct process observed.
