Light scattering investigation of association phenomena in saline carrageenan solutions
2002
Intermolecular association of i- and K-carrageenan in aqueous solution has been studied by wide-angle laser light scattering as a function of salt composition and temperature. For i-carragenan, the effect of three different salts (LiCl, NaCI, NaI) on the associative properties was investigated. As to K-carrageenan, the association-inducing effect of Cs + ions was studied, with particular interest in the time dependence of the aggregation process.
