Synthesis and crystal structure of fused imidazooxazolidine systems

Abstract Structural modifications of the dinitroimidazole ring by the use of direct reactivity of the nitro group at C-5 position with ammonium hydroxide, leading to aminonitro compound formation, were investigated. The aminonitro derivatives were reacted with sodium hypochlorite, which led to imidazooxazolidine skeletons. The structures of imidazooxazolidine type compounds obtained were determined by using a combination of analytical tools including X-ray diffraction, IR, mass spectra and NMR.
