Comments on "Fields radiated by electrostatic discharges" (by P.F. Wilson and M.T. Ma)
1992
The commenter makes two remarks regarding the above-titled paper by P.F. Wilson and M.T. Ma (see ibid., vol.33, p.10-18, Feb. 1991). He notes that the authors' observation that ESD (electrostatic discharge) analysis had mostly focused on currents waveforms, and very little was done concerning the field generated during a discharge, is an understatement. He maintains that whereas the authors are basing their radiation model as if the spark was the radiating aerial, in fact the radiator is not just the arc but the entire circuit formed by the simulator, the discharge head, the target and the return strap. >
