Difference of clinical characteristics and coronary artery lesions in type 2 diabetes mellitus with coronary heart disease of different gender

2013
Objective To investigate the difference of clinical characteristics and coronary artery lesions in type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) patients with coronary heart disease (CHD) between male and female. Methods A total of 6445 patients with CHD were divided into T2DM group (1422 cases) and non-diabetes mellitus (NDM) group (5023 cases) and further divided into male and female subgroup. The difference of clinical and coronary angiographic characteristics was analyzed in the 1422 T2DM patients with CHD.Results The clinical manifestations, risk factors and coexistence characteristics were quite different in T2DM group of male and female patients with CHD.The age of final diagnosis of CHB in female was advanced compared with that in male patients in T2DM group (P < 0.01).The level of tiacylglycerol(TG),total cholesterol (TC) in male patients with CHD was lower than that in female patients with CHD in NDM group and T2DM group[NDM group:(1.80 ± 1.21) mmol/L vs.(2.00 ± 1.69) mmol/L and (4.80 ±0.88)mmol/L vs.(5.30 ± 1.37) mmol/L;T2DM group:(2.40 ±2.25) mmol/L vs.(2.80 ±2.28) mmol/L and (4.70 ± 1.26) mmol/L vs.(5.30 ± 1.44) mmol/L],and there was significant difference(P< 0.01).There was no significant difference in multi-vessel disease, type C lesions and diffuse vascular lesions between male and female patients with CHD in T2DM group (P > 0.05),but type B lesions and small vessel lesions in female patients with CHD was higher than that in male patients with CHD in T2DM group [35.1%(704/2003) vs.31.4% (1503/4788) and 32.2% (644/2003) vs.26.2% (1256/4788)],and there was significant difference (P < 0.01).Conclusions CHD patients with T2DM have much more cardiovascular risk factors and complex and diffuse coronary artery lesions. It is worth paying attention to the difference of clinical characteristics and coronary artery lesions in patients T2DM patients with CHD between male and female.
