CONHECIMENTOS E PRÁTICAS DAS MULHERES ACERCA DO EXAME PAPANICOLAU E PREVENÇÃO DO CÂNCER CÉRVICO-UTERINO CONOCIMIENTOS Y PRACTICAS DE LAS MUJERES SOBRE EL PAP Y LA PREVENCIÓN DE CANCER CERVICO-UTERINO

Objectives: To describe the problems faced by women to perform the Pap test, identify and analyze the performance of nurses on the day of. Methods: This descriptive and exploratory. The instrument was the questionnaire and the subjects, women of a school in Niteroi, RJ. Results: Emerged categories: Problems highlighted for completion of the test; cultural influence before the completion of the Pap; know-how of women in relation to the Pap / HPV; Professional x Preventive health. Discussion: Shame (52%) and discomfort (14%) of the examination are the most frequent feelings towards achievement of the same: the difficulty of access (2%) and embarrassment are also addressed (8%). Conclusion: It was evident then that the problems faced by women to perform the Pap faces is a lack of information offered by professionals and association of the examination as a sexual act, support for family / partner to carry out the test; lack of women on smears, need for specialized nurses. RESUMO Objetivos: Descrever os problemas enfrentados pelas mulheres para realizacao do Papanicolau, identificar e analisar a atuacao do enfermeiro diante da realizacao deste. Metodos: Pesquisa descritiva-exploratoria. O instrumento foi questionario e os sujeitos, mulheres de uma escola em Niteroi/RJ. Resultados: Emergiram as categorias: Problemas evidenciados para realizacao do Papanicolau; Influencia cultural frente a realizacao do exame preventivo; Saber-fazer das mulheres em relacao ao Papanicolau/HPV; Profissional de saude x Preventivo. Discussao: A vergonha (52%) e o desconforto (14%) da realizacao do exame sao os sentimentos mais frequentes em relacao a realizacao do mesmo; a dificuldade de acesso (2%) e o constrangimento tambem sao abordados (8%). Conclusao: Evidenciou-se, entao que os problemas enfrentados pelas mulheres para realizacao do Papanicolau defronta-nos com a falta de informacao cedida pelos profissionais; associacao do exame como um ato sexual; apoio familia/parceiro para a realizacao do Papanicolau; desconhecimento das mulheres sobre Papanicolau; necessidade de especializacao do enfermeiro.
