Laser Induced Coating Damage of Monolithic Solid State Lasers in High-Temperature, Confined Operation
2020
Monolithic solid-state lasers are advantageous in high shock-vibration environments in order to maintain performance. Laser damage thresholds that exceed the laser fluence do not ensure long term reliability without ultra-low polishing contamination. High-temperature confined operation also significantly increases the risk of contamination enhanced laser induced damage on beam steering optics. We report coating performance tests and mitigation strategies.
