Engaging Families in the Intensive Care Unit to Support ICU Survivors

2021
Family-centered care is an approach to engage and support families in a respectful manner throughout a hospital admission. By incorporating family-centered care into daily ICU practice, families receive the tools to mitigate stress and become more effective caretakers. Family-centered care encompasses effective communication, daily family-centered rounds, frequent family meetings, and the provision of family support zones.
