TRAFFIC SAFETY STUDY BASED ON HARMONY (HEXIE) THEORY

2013
Traffic safety, involving many disciplines, is a highly complex and uncertain area. Traditional research failed to unify all the separate subjects as a cohesive one, and the explanation of the traffic accident causes was not convincing. We apply Chinese Harmony (HeXie) Theory to demonstrate traffic safety, putting the human factors at the leading role, also explain the two mechanisms and the coupling of two modes for achieving traffic safety. Finally, harmony degree function (H(x)) and traffic safety function (TS(x)) are applied to analyze the process of the Traffic safety is a multi-disciplinary research area, consisted of science, engineering, management, law, history, medicine, economics, psychology and other subjects. Traffic safety researchers analyze and improve the traffic safety by employing the method of mathematical statistics, fuzzy evaluation and regression analysis, etc. Saber from United States and Treat from Britain after a research in a large number of traffic accidents draw a conclusion that the road reasons accounts for 28% ~ 34%, human factors about 93% ~ 94%, and the car accounts for about 8% ~ 12%. Since there are many uncertain factors, research methods often disagree with the actual driving behaviors of drivers. From the view of the "harmony", harmony degree function and system safety function are proposed to analyze the process of traffic safety.
