Goal –The purpose of the article was to present a proposal of profitability calculation for plant production taking into account biological benefits. Research methodology – In the article, the idea of the account was presented on the example of legume production. It was assumed that in the first year peas were grown, in the second year, rapeseed. The article assumes that from the economic point of view, the influence of the subsequent legumes on the soil and the yield of crops grown after them is not taken into account in the calculations.Score – The research shows that the cultivation of legumes on the farm brings tangible benefits in the following years. In pea cultivation in the analyzed period, biological benefits accounted for 2% of total income, and 19% for rape cultivation. Originality / value – When assessing the economic competitiveness of legumes in relation to cereals and oilseed rape, farmers often forget to take into account the additional benefits (biological benefits) resulting from the cultivation of the former.
