Sexualität und Schwangerschaft bei Zystischer Fibrose

2001
About 40% of the German CF patients are adults (18 years or older), nearly half of them live with the parents, 20% are living alone or with a partner, 17% are married. This situation has substantially changed in the last decades, and so questions about sexuality, contraception, fertility and pregnancy became important. Male teenagers with CF should be informed about infertility (98%, but not 100%), adult men about insemination techniques. With the ICSl,some men with CF are biological father of a healthy child. In the 1960's the first pregnancies in women with CF were reported. In the last decade we have about 15 pregnancies yearly (data from the CF register). If the CF women are in good condition and the lung function is over 50% (FEV1),the pregnancy is in most instances uncomplicated and a normal birth can be planned. Cesarian section is not needed and the indication for sectio is the same as in non-CF women. The long time prognosis of CF-mothers does not differ much from CF women without birth. Breast feeding is also possible, when the condition of the CF-mother is good. Parents with CF are a new subgroup of patients with special psychological, medical and social needs.
