Behavior of the Amplitude Signal by Testing Fiber-Reinforced Plastics Using Air-Coupled Ultrasound

2018
Fiber-reinforced plastics (FRP) are considered to be the key materials in the automotive industry in fields of lightweight and CO2 reduction. Hybrid structures of materials such as steel or aluminum and fiber-reinforced plastics, such as carbon fiber-reinforced plastics (CFRP) or glass fiber-reinforced plastics (GFRP), will be used to reduce vehicle weights in future [1]. Until now, various non-destructive testing techniques are used to detect defects in FRP-components. Depending on the component and branch of industry, the methods differ from each other.
