Optimization of Stable a-SiC/a-Si Tandem Solar Cell with Blocking Barriers

1987
Recently, we have developed a very stable a-SiC/a-Si heterojunction solar cell with blocking barriers. The structure of the cell is one of multi-junction types with blocking barriers for the dopants and metal diffusion. This new tandem cell exhibits an excellent stability for sun light exposure as well as thermal condition. One of the reason why this solar cell is more stable than ordinary tandem cell is thought to be the promotion of carrier recombination at n/p interface. Optimization of cell structure and results of field test of a-SiC/a-Si heterojunction solar cell are also discussed.
