SDF-1 Regulation of Expression on Periodontal Ligament Cells Derived from Human Permanent Teeth
2012
Both periodontal ligament tissue that located between the alveolar bone and the root of teeth and dental pulp tissue are reported to have mesenchymal stem cells [1, 2] (MSCs). MSCs are considered to be involved in the homeostasis of periodontal tissue. Recent studies have revealed that the stromal cell-derived factor-1α (SDF-1) is crucial for migration of endothelial precursor cells and MSCs through its receptor, CXCR4. However, regulation of SDF-1 expression in the periodontal ligament cells is still unknown. In this study, we investigated whether FGF-2 could regulate the expression of SDF-1 in periodontal ligament cells derived from human permanent teeth.
