Cystic granulosa cell tumor of the ovary:a clinicopathological observation

2009
Objective To investigate the clinicopathologic features and relevant differential diagnosis of the cystic granulosa cell tumor of the ovary. Methods Two cases of cystic granulosa cell tumor of the ovary were analyzed with light microscopic, immunohistochemical analyses and related literature was reviewed. Results Two female patients were 28 and 60 years old respectively.Tumors appeared entirely cystic, measuring 12 cm×11.5 cm and 6.5 cm ×4 cm.The inner surface of cysts were lined by single and/or multiple layer of granulosa cells.Solid sheath of granulose cells were desmonstranted in this cystic walls.Immunohistochemically, the tumor cells were diffusely positive for inhibin,CD99 and Vimentin. Conclusions Cystic granulosa cell tumor of the ovary is a rare tumor. The key point of its diagnosis is to find Call-exner body and micro-follicular pattern in solid sheath of the cells. The immunohistochemical findings may help for diagnosis.
