Design and synthesis antiepileptic, antimicrobial evaluation of 5 -substituted pyrimidine derivatives

1. ABSTRACT There has been valuable consideration and interest in the novel compounds with antimicrobial, Anticonvulsant and anticancer activities. Epilepsy is one of the major CNS disorder nearly 5% of the world population were suffered. A newer drugs such as felbamate, lomotrigine, gabapentin, vigabatrin, Toperamate does not appears to be superior to that of drugs developed earlier and their safety margins are lesser . Literature revealed that pyrimidines are showing various activities like anti viral, anti cancer, anti fungal etc. Till now not much attention has been paid towards pyrimidine derivatives as antimicrobial agents. The present study, objective of the work can be summarized as 5-substituted pyrimidine derivative constitute an important class of compounds for new drug development. These observations have been given novel idea for the development of new 5-pyrimidine derivative that possess varied biological activities.
