Pathologies associated with alterations in the vascular system of the pulmonary circuit constitute a separate arena within cardiovascular pathology. Disorders affecting the pulmonary circulation are heterogenous in nature, although all involve the presentation of significant alterations in the pulmonary arterial and/or venous systems, which are identified through macroscopic and microscopic examination (Table 2.1).
