The expression and significance of MMP-7 and E-cad proteins in breast carcinoma

2012
Objective To investigate the expression and significance of matrix metallo-proteinases-7(MMP-7) and E-cadherin(E-cad) proteins in breast ductal carcinoma in situ(DCIS) and infiltrating duct carcinoma(IDC).Methods The expressions of MMP-7 and E-cad proteins were detected by immunohistochemistry in 25 cases of DCIS tissues,68 cases of IDC tissues and 17 cases of normal breast tissues(control group),and the correlation among them was analyzed. Results As compared with that in control group, the positive rate of MMP-7 expression was significantly increased in DCIS(84.00%) and IDC(83.82%)(P0.05),however,the positive rate of E-cad expression was 88.00% and 80.88%,respectively,which was significantly decreased(P0.05).There was no correlation between MMP-7 and E-cad(P0.05).Howerver,the expressions of VEGF and MMP-7 were closely correlated with the differentiation degree and,TNM stage and lymphatic metastasis of breast carcinoma. Conclusion MMP-7 and E-cad are correlated with the pathogenesis and progression of breast ductal carcinoma in situ and infiltrating duct carcinoma.
