The Predicament and Prospective of the Research on Chinese Traditional Garden

Chinese garden is the representative of East Asian garden, one of the three important traditional gardens of the world. Chinese garden has developed a unique style and form through its history of thousands of years, and had important influence on the world gardens. Under the direction of the resolution to promote a great prosperity and development of socialistic culture by the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, the research on Chinese traditional garden should be paid more attention. To emphasize the tradition of Chinese garden will ensure a long term development of Chinese landscape architecture. However, the fact is that the research on Chinese traditional garden is paid less attention, and the research findings are even refused by professional journals. This paper attempted to answer why Chinese garden was being neglected, find out the crucial reasons, and outline the prospective of the research on the Chinese traditional garden.
