A multilevel multiregion computation framework for the analysis of antenna structures

The Antenna Center of Excellence, ACE, is a network of excellence (NoE) within the 6th framework of the European Union (EU). One of the efforts being performed within ACE is the antenna software initiative (ASI). The reason for this is the observation that although for a long time there has been a strong coordination in fundamental antenna modeling problems in Europe, concerning the actual software itself, the European effort is still scattered. Within the ACE network, an inventory was made of the software available among all partners of ACE, describing in detail the possibilities and limitations. From the results of the inventory action, the necessary information has been extracted concerning possible integration activities. Which theoretical techniques and corresponding software of different partners can be combined or even integrated in a single entity is being studied. As an illustration of antenna software integration, the case of the planar multilayered structure is discussed.
