NEW MATERIAL: The volatile organic barium, strontium and calcium compounds are respectively composed of barium, strontium- or calcium β-diketonal, and at least one ligand. In the volatile organic barium, strontium and calcium compounds, at least one ligand of the barium or strontium compound is formed by neutral oxygen or neutral nitrogen donator ligand, and further one of the ligand of the calcium compound is formed by a neutral oxygen donator ligand. EXAMPLE: A compound of formula I. USE: A precursor for metal-organic chemical vacuum evaporation. PREPARATION: For example, a compound of formula II is reacted with a compound of formula III in an organic solvent such as toluene or the like, to obtain a compound of formula I.
