The Interdisciplinary Nature of Stem SOS

The interdisciplinary elements of the STEM SOS model are crucial to enabling the overall success of that model. The heightened focus on the scientific method across many content areas encourages the implementation of rigor and skills-based inquiry by teachers in English Language Arts (ELA) and Social Studies. In turn, both teachers and students routinely think about and discuss how their subjects relate to others during the course of yearlong student projects, an experience that increases the relevance of learning for students.
