Safe Excavation Method of Vertical Slope at Cohesive Soil Area

When free slope excavation at cohesive soil area is uneconomical, the method of vertical slope excavation can be adopted. This paper presents the formulae for limit safe height and maximum length of excavation section by section in vertical slope excavation. 
