A novel domain decomposition preconditioner for the solution of boundary integral equations

A novel domain decomposition based preconditioner for the iterative solution of surface integral equations is presented. In this approach, the octree of the Multilevel Fast Multipole Method (MLFMM) is split into several subtrees which form the different computing domains. In order to handle domain interfaces, the near-field interactions between neighboring domains are taken into account and small overlap regions are introduced to form a stable domain decomposition algorithm. Numerical results with open and closed structures demonstrate the capability of the proposed method.
