Reconstruction of hydrogen distribution in Inertial Confinement Fusion target shell by tomography with proton-proton scattering coincidence measurement

2021
Abstract In this work, the proton-proton scattering coincidence measurement (PPS) is combined with the CT technique to reconstruct the H distribution in the Inertial Confinement Fusion (ICF) target. The sample used in this study is a hollow microsphere made of glow discharge polymer (GDP), which is fabricated mainly for the ICF research. A self-written MATLAB program is developed to simulate the generation of PPS projection when the GDP target is at different projection angles and to reconstruct H distribution in it. The PPS counts loss correction factors for PPS projection data are calculated with this program. With the correction factors, the H distribution in the circle-shape sample can be reconstructed. Then the H distribution in a GDP target’s equatorial plane is reconstructed with the reconstruction code.
